2012 Subaru Forester: Subaru Forester vehicles, manufactured between November 2007 to March 2012, will be affected by this recall and their owners will have to take a trip back to the dealers which will inspect the rear seat belts and replace them if necessary, free of charge. The NHTSA is also saying that the rear center seat belt system does not meet federal safety standards and these could inhibit the proper installation of child safety seats because the automatic locking retractors do not lock properly.
Subaru didn’t say anything about reports received from customers regarding this problem and we don’t know for sure whether or not injuries occurred because of the defective rear seat belts, but if ignores, the risk of an injury to passengers sitting in the seat could increase during a collision. Subaru’s mechanics will replace the rear center seat belt assembly with a new one and the recall is expected to start soon.
