2013 Lamborghini Ferruccio

By thr_80 | At 6:09 PM | Label : , | 0 Comments
2013 Lamborghini Ferruccio: This concept car is the work of Mark Hostler, a transportation design student at Staffordshire University. Hostler's overly aggressive and hard-edged concept is said to blend the shapes and design details of various Lamborghini supercars from different eras. These include the low windshield and read end design of the original Countach, the softer

And more rounded front fenders of the Miura and the jet-fighter lines of the recent crop of Lamborghinis such as the Reventon and the Aventador LP700-4. In Hostler's mind, a supercar like the Ferruccio concept should combine tradition with modernity and as such, he designed it to be equipped with a 5.0-liter V12 engine featuring twin-turbochargers and a direct-injection system.

2013 Lamborghini Aventador

By thr_80 | At 6:02 PM | Label : , | 0 Comments
2013 Lamborghini Aventador: The 2013 Aventador is now equipped with a stop-start system with supercaps for energy storage and cylinder deactivation under partial load. Lamborghini says their stop-start system is extremely fast, so you won't lose time in case a drag race between stop lights comes along. It will take around 180 milliseconds to get the full power of the V12 engine from a stop. Lambo's new system is around 3 kg lighter than similar systems form other manufacturers.

The 2013 Lamborghini Aventador's Cylinder Deactivation System (CDS) deactivates one cylinder bank at speeds of less than 135 km/h, which transforms the engine in an inline 6-cylinder unit. However, as soon as you press the gas pedal, the engine turns back into a V12. These two systems help reduce the 2013 Aventador's fuel consumption on average by up to 7% to 16 liters/100km. Lamborghini says that at speeds of 130 km/h (the European highway speed limit) the new Aventador (2013) is 20% more fuel effective. The CO2 emissions of the 2013 Aventador drop from 398 g/km to 370 g/km.

2008 Lamborghini Reventon

By thr_80 | At 3:24 AM | Label : , | 0 Comments
2008 Lamborghini Reventon: Based on the Murcielago LP640, the Lamborghini Reventon will enjoy a limited run of only 20 units, and I was lucky enough to spend a day testing the only one currently in existence just outside of Bologna, Italy. How does this $1.4 million, 211 mile per hour supercar make the LP640 seem downright pedestrian by comparison? Read on to find out. The clutchless eGear transmission makes launches as easy as pressing your eager right foot to the floor, and once first gear engages, forward motion is immediate and addictive.

60 mph comes in only 3.4 seconds (.4 seconds faster than the heavier LP640) just floor the accelerator, allow your body to be pressed into the firm seat, and enjoy the space-warping effects of blistering speed. The sensation of acceleration is so intensely satisfying that in spite of (or, perhaps because of) my test car’s artificially limited top speed of 80 mph, I found myself repeatedly blasting forward and stabbing the phenomenally powerful brakes, just to accelerate again and hear this car’s twelve pistons bang out their 8,000 RPM song.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4

By thr_80 | At 9:39 AM | Label : , | 0 Comments

Before the Geneva Motor Show press conference on Tuesday, Lamborghini let us in on a private Bologna-area photography studio so that we could get our own sex-machine shots of their raging new V12 firestarter, the 691-horsepower Aventador LP700-4.

First off, we're glad they didn't call it 'Jota' as some were peas-and-carroting about because it's just a silly and unpronounceable name. It probably belonged to some wimpy minor league bull, too. Only one true Jota was ever built in 1970, and it was a just an amped-up and flared Miura (we prefer not to think about the mid-90s Diablo anniversary upgrade kits).
